Who is Billy's Brass Band?
From the first driving drum beat you will know that this group is for you!
Billy's Brass Band has been wowing West Coast Far and Convention audiences since 1992 as they take their high energy, crazy, zany, fun filled show from the fairgrounds to the stage. Their interactive fast paced, choreographed, musical revue has something for every musical taste. From Rock and Roll to Rap, and Country to Classical. Don't let the "Brass Band" fool you, John Phillip Sousa they are not! This whitty show band delights audiences with their "get involved" program that will have everyone in the crowd singing a polka one minute and rock'n to "Y.M.C.A." the next. Wait 'till you see your friends on stage dancing to "Tequila" or the whole audience doin' the hand jive. Oh, Billy's Brass Band isn't silly all the time. They can really belt out a serious tune too. Billy's versions of swing tunes of the forties, rock of the fifties, or show medelies and beautiful ballads will have you in awe of this unique and versatile show group.
You never know what to expect when Billy's Brass Band takes the stage because every audience is different and their shows are tailor made for every group they entertain.
It's obvious these crazy guys work very hard and love it, so will you!
The band is directed by Bill Chisholm. Chisholm originated the One More Time Around Again Marching Band, in Portland Oregon, in 1985 for the Portland Rose Festival Association. The band has grown from 80 original members to it's present size of 600 members, including "old timer" dancers, baton twirlers and color gaurd. This incredible group delights millions each year at the Rose Festival's major events on national T.V. Apearances at the Pasadena Tournament of roses New Years Day Parade and a tour of Florida make up a few of the band's out-of-town performances.
The One More Timers are famous for their huge, clean brass sound and zany character, and audiences truly love them.
Chisholm's performance background, combined with his uncanny selection of show music and ability to keep the audience entertained, has found the ultimate opportunity for expression in this high energy, high-stepping brass band.
Billy's Brass Band is an "All-Star" version of it's much larger inspiration, and many members of the smaller 20-piece group come from the One More Time Around Again Marching Band.
Our band is very flexible and can march a parade, lead people to stage or events, or play a street corner concert, but are best featured on a full sound stage. Most customers find that a 10 - 15 minute concert on the grounds followed immediately by a 45 minute stage show makes best use of our skills. We are most suited and have found our most effective venue is to perform a stage show with full sound and light production. We travel with sound and light equipment or can use your sound system. Because we provide a very high energy show, and not because we are old, we need lots of rest. We certainly appreciate at least a one hour break between shows.
